The large JB74 Life Jacket chests typically store about 56 foam filled life jackets or a smaller number of immersion suits. The exact capacity depends on the models of jackets or suits being stored but can be as high as 108 life jackets. The chests are manufactured using Lloyds approved composites including UV resistant gelcoats to provide long term protection for Life jackets or immersion suits in even the harshest environments. The ingress protection rating is very high at IP 56. It has both Lloyds and ABS approvals.

The design incorporates reinforced feet under the chest for mounting to decks. It is also a very rigid design and features a high quality EPDM rubber seal around the lid aperture. The hinges are heavy duty 316 stainless steel for long term resistance to corrosion. The over-centre catches can be fitted with anti-tamper seals to deter the curious. Insulation and heating are available for cold climates to prevent frost.
