This is the largest of four sizes of splinter box for Naval damage control. It is widely used by Navies around the world. It has the NATO stock code of NSN 2040-99-361-7439. They are used to plug splinter holes in the ship’s sides to prevent flooding. The design is very robust and is manufactured using Lloyds approved composites and class 2 flame retardant resins. This provides long lasting protection. It features a highly durable 18mm EPDM seal around the edge to make an effective watertight seal. It also has a rough exterior finish to make it easier to grip and to shore into position.
