The SOS505 life jacket chest is designed to store approximately 6 foam filled life jackets depending on type. It is made of thick single skin, UV stabilised polyethylene so as to provide many years of reliable use.  Many similar looking chests will be made with thin double skins which can become brittle and crack from UV aging. The lid is secured by a marine bungee cord which makes it easy to open with only one hand even when wearing gloves. This is better than using plastic or metal catches secured with rivets as the rivets can pull through the comparatively soft polyethylene. This very effective sealing gives it an excellent IP rating of x5. Because of this the contents will be protected whatever the weather.  The base is reinforced for deck mounting and the design means they can be stacked when not in use to minimise storage and transport costs.
