According to the Energy industries Council (EIC), the UK only produces 57% of the oil it needs and 41% of it’s natural gas requirements so despite the expansion of renewables and the drive in so many areas to cut usage, there is still a need to produce more in this country. If not, it just means the UK has to import it from elsewhere. The UK is far from being alone in this situation and in fact, is far more fortunate than many other European countries.
Elsewhere in the world the situation is similar. Australia may have huge plans for hydrogen production amongst other renewables but still has a current requirement for oil.
The Australian climate can be harsh of course with some areas being subjected to cyclonic wind speeds. Jo Bird fire equipment cabinets have been chosen for many of these projects due to the high wind ratings the cabinets are designed for. The Aussies have set very high standards for their safety equipment putting performance before price. Safety and longevity are the driving factors. It was pleasing then, to see this week, an order coming through for fire equipment cabinets destined for a new FPU for western Australia on behalf of Woodside Energy and BHP Petroleum. This is a truly international project involving at least 7 countries.
