Recently the latest batch of a long line of orders for JB29 offshore wind turbine equipment cabinets was completed by the Jo Bird team in Somerset. These will be installed on the heli-hoist platforms of the Siemens-Gamesa turbines at Ørsted’s Hornsea 2 offshore wind farm in the North sea. There they will remain for the next 25-30 years, ensuring that vital lifesaving equipment is readily accessible to maintenance teams on the turbines. This was a joint project between Ørsted, Siemens-Gamesa, Viking Life-saving and Jo Bird.

The company has also recently received an order for the Danish Thor offshore wind farm substation. This wind farm is being developed by RWE off the coast of Jutland. The substation will use IP56 rated and Lloyds approved JB17.750 cabinets for immersion suits and emergency grab bags. In addition a variety of JB81 safety equipment cabinets and JB84 fire extinguisher cabinets will be provided. This way, RWE can be sure this equipment is well protected whatever the weather for many years to come. The wind farm is expected to be operational by 2027 at the latest.
